This is a computer assisted instruction program designed to improve your reading skills. The course covers four major skill areas: Narrative Text, Information Text, Persuasive Text, and Reading Comprehension. The course will individualize instruction for each student, selecting the appropriate skill areas according to your pattern of response,--the manner in which you answer questions.
Policies:

a. Response to Assignments:
Response to assignments on time and regular contacts (through email or other media) with instructor constitutes individual participation in the course. Students who fail to present their assignments on two consecutive scheduled times, without any tangible reason, will be dropped. Students are responsible for all class assignments and the instructor must be notified promptly if an assignment cannot be presented on time.

b. Grading Policy:
There will be three tests and a number of class assignments. The class assignments grade includes class quizzes, participation in class and any assignments and reports deemed relevant to the course. The date for class quizzes would be announced in class. The scheduling of these would depend on the materials covered at the time. Distribution of points will be as follows:

Three tests - 100 points each =   300 points
Class assignments and quizzes =  100 points
Total =  400 points

**Class assignments include quizzes and a written report on each of the chapters discussed in class. The report represents the student's understanding of the chapter topic discussed.

c. Grading Scale     A = 374 - 400 points
    B = 342 - 373 points
    C = 298 - 341 points
    D = 278 - 297 points
    F = less than 278 points
