In conjunction with our innovative educational technology, Instructional Systems has introduced JobNet, an Internet-based job matching service that coordinates employers, trainees, and job counselors. Undertaken in conjunction with a group of job-training agencies, JobNet uses information technology to enhance the placement component of job-training programs by improving the quality and quantity of data available to all participants.

Using the extensive data-collection capabilities of our instructional software, JobNet generates educational reports detailing a client's skills, growth, readiness and willingness to learn, as well as other related information. Combined with client-produced resumes and notes from counselors, these "electronic resumes" create rich descriptions of job applicants that enable employers to make better hiring decisions. Employers, in turn, access the JobNet system to circulate detailed descriptions of their openings, allowing the system to match job openings to clients seeking employment over a citywide or regional area.

For training agency staff, other JobNet applications include:

For training center clients, JobNet includes:

• on-line mentoring and e-mail,
• appointment scheduling and access to on-line support
• groups of counselors and other trainers.
