There are seven steps to solving a problem:
  1. Identify the problem
  2. Investigate the problem
  3. Develop alternative solutions
  4. Evaluate the alternative solutions
  5. Choose the solution you think is best
  6. Implement the solution
  7. Establish a time frame for action
