Nail care is part of the general care given to patients by home care
workers. Nail care includes cleaning fingernails and toenails, and
cutting or trimming fingernails. Toenails are cut by a podiatrist or
nurse. (A podiatrist is a doctor who specializes in feet and foot care.) This is to protect patients with certain diseases of poor circulation from any possible damage to their feet. You should
never cut toenails.
