Occupational Skills Course

 

Office Skills & Technology

ISI offers three valuable courses that provide essential skills for working in an office environment: Office Skills, Office Worker Program and Introduction to Office Technology. In all these courses, students will learn at their own pace while developing key competencies. The course materials have been developed specifically for the adult or young learner who will see direct applications for the instruction in a real world-working environment.

 
  OFFICE SKILLS

This program provides the skills necessary to successfully function in today’s office environment with minimum supervision. This course is a combination of the Office Worker Program and the Introduction to Office Technology, so emphasis is also placed on the development of decision-making and problem-solving skills.

The curriculum is divided into seven chapters that thoroughly cover an office worker’s skills:
CHAPTER 1 – Filing Procedures
CHAPTER 2 – Telephone Communications
CHAPTER 3 – Information Systems
CHAPTER 4 – Computer Software
CHAPTER 5 – Information Transfer
CHAPTER 6 – Mail Procedures
CHAPTER 7 – Record Duplication

 
  OFFICE WORKER PROGRAM

This program provides the skills instruction required for entry-level positions as an office worker. In this course, emphasis is placed on mastering basic office procedures and important office protocols.

Number of Lessons: 52.

Estimated Course Length: 20-25 hours.

The curriculum is divided into four chapters as follows:
CHAPTER 1 – Basic Filing
CHAPTER 2 – Advanced Filing
CHAPTER 3 – Mail Procedures
CHAPTER 4 – Telephone Communication

 
  INTRODUCTION TO OFFICE TECHNOLOGY

This course is designed to introduce the adult learner to the many technical issues they will likely face in today’s modern office. Students will gain detailed knowledge about the systems and equipment used to run efficient and effective office operations.

Number of Lessons: 43.

Estimated Course Length: 20-25 hours

The curriculum is divided into four chapters as follows:
CHAPTER 1 – Computer Software
CHAPTER 2 – Information Systems
CHAPTER 3 – Information Transfer
CHAPTER 4 – Record Duplication

Through a series of practice and scored questions, the student will be able to define all key terms and practice common tasks required for office workers.
