Our Story
ISI was founded in 1973 with the intent to make learning available to anyone anywhere, at any time. In the early days of personal computers, in the mid-1970’s, ISI worked hard to place personal computers in public schools. In 1989, ISI distributed laptops to New York City housing project residents. There have been many “firsts” in ISI’s history—all have been efforts aimed at using technology to educate those in need.
Today, ISI products and services offer a way for individuals to achieve a wide array of goals from academic remediation to workplace readiness to gaining the life skills necessary to reintegrate into society. Adults preparing for GED exams, college entrance and the workforce benefit from ISI’s products and services in thirty-eight SUNY UCAWD ATTAIN (Advanced Technology Training And Information Networking) labs and enjoy higher GED passing rates, college placement and effective workplace readiness training. ISI Laptop projects in New York and New Jersey provide access from home to ISI courses and program support, allowing adults to spend more time with their families. Those in need of parenting skills use ISI courses to better understand the phases of child development.
In short, ISI prepares individuals to succeed in college, in work and in life. ISI is a socially conscious company built on a philosophy of caring for the people and communities it serves. The ISI team believes that where there is a will, there is a way to empower people anywhere in the world to succeed in an increasingly information-based, technology-driven global economy.
